Tulsa is in the heart of tornado alley. Spring and early summer (April-June) bring hail, straight-line winds, and tornadoes that can total a roof in 90 seconds. The first 14 days after the storm matter — that's when the insurance claims window is most flexible and when the storm-chaser scammers also descend on the area.
1. Document everything. Take photos of any visible damage (missing shingles, dents on gutters/AC unit, debris on roof). These are timestamped evidence the damage happened during the storm.
2. Get a free inspection from a licensed Oklahoma roofer — not a door-knocker. The storm-chasers who hit your door the day after a storm are largely unlicensed out-of-state crews. They'll quote a number, take your insurance check, and disappear. We only route to roofers licensed by the State of Oklahoma.
3. File the claim BEFORE the deductible math is final. Some insurers will waive the deductible for full re-roofs if filed within 30 days. Worth asking.
4. Don't sign over your claim. "Assignment of Benefits" agreements are the #1 way storm-chasers walk off with your money. Our contractor partners never ask for AOB.
Free inspection → damage report → you file the claim with your insurer → adjuster comes out and we meet them on the roof → claim approved → work scheduled within 5-10 business days of approval. Total timeline from storm to new roof: 4-8 weeks.
Hail damage. 1"+ hail will bruise shingles even when nothing looks obviously broken. Insurance adjusters know to look for this. Our contractor inspections find 90%+ of qualifying hail damage that homeowners would miss.
Wind damage. 60+ MPH winds can lift shingles even without removing them. Look for "creased" shingles — they're folded back even though they look in place. Same insurance treatment as hail.
Debris damage. Tree limbs and yard debris can puncture shingles and decking. These are obvious but still need professional repair.
